Kou Shuurei
Kou Shuurei is a woman with a mission in life. Born into old Chinese society where women were not considered as potential candidates for the political scene, Kou had her work cut out for her. Her destiny as a political figure comes into fruition when she is asked to be a cohort of the rebellious, seemingly clueless Emperor Ryuuki. When she is able to successfully turn the child emperor into a man befitting of the title, she decides it is time for her to prove that she has what it takes to rub elbows with the men in the Imperial palace. Together with her friends, new and old, she goes on her rough but promising path to her dream, inspiring all those around her and affecting change wherever she goes.

When she passed the Imperial exams, she was given a huge challenge and was appointed as the governer of the Sa province, a region in deep turmoil. With the help of her co-governor, Eigetsu, and her two assistants, Ensei and Seiran, she was able to pave Sa province's way to progress and peace.
